the last few years has seen a series of well received releases from rhythmic theory, the anonymous techno producer lurking in the shadows of the bristol music scene. *endless forms* is their second release for idle hands and follows on from where the previous ep *legacy of the lost* left off. the title track delves deeper into the sonic realms of classic jungle and comes up for air sounding like dub techno. a weighty bass line propels things along, whilst a sci-fi voice intones the title. this one is a sound system rocker. *tales of dystopia* brings to mind early nineties uk techno with its haunting synths, swung beats and deadly bass line. rhythmic theory is killing it at the moment, expect more to come.

they say that to know where you are going, you must know where you come from. in 2008 akkachar founded the rwina label, naming it after the word for never-ending chaos in the tamazight dialect of his north african ancestors. over the next five years he let the chaos unfold, building the label into an unpredictable yet reliable power house of dance and electronic music. today he turns to his roots for his own debut release, a three-track ep inspired by and dedicated to the amazigh (or berber) culture found in moroccos rif mountains.

the last few years have seen chicago footwork rise to international success, and traxmans debut album - *the mind of traxman* on planet mu - played no small part in that. it showcased cornelius fergusons brilliant ability to synthesise the beat digging of classic hip hop with the high-speed abstraction of footworks house-derived beat science. the selection of tracks on this second chapter show a slightly different take on traxman s abilities. instead of bringing in concepts from other genres, he simply creates a wider variety of footwork, made with a minimal, reduced palette. often just one or two samples are selected and diced into brain-blurring cubist puzzles that bear little relation to their original sources, or anything else for that matter.

nicole has returned to drumcode all guns blazing with her new bittersweet ep. the a-side i know where ive been, is a deep rolling techno machine that uses a constant building percussion loop that eventually explodes into some serious funky signature moudaber techno! bittersweet is a techno belter that uses a hypnotic synth rhythm that will take the listener into another world. the repetitive claps induce a flurry of energy and excitement whilst supported by the crisp highs.
